About CRCC

OUR
VISION

The Coastal Recovery Community Center (CRCC) is a part of a collaborative community throughout Knox County that strives to reduce the stigma of addiction, supports those suffering from substance use disorders, and treats them and their families as human beings with value and worth to the community and society.

OUR
GOALS

CRCC’s goal is to be the bridge between treatment and full recovery by:

  • Creating a set of peer led addiction recovery supports for those seeking help as well as their friends and families

  • Serving as a referral and navigating resource for public safety personnel or other first-contact agencies

  • Serving as a referral and navigating resource for those transitioning back into the community from treatment, probation and correctional institutions

CRCC will help recoverees create a plan of change that promotes personal empowerment and a sense of hope in a supportive peer community. We will provide concrete assistance in finding reliable resources that help break the bonds of addiction.

Recovery Community Center

The establishment of a recovery community center is key to CRCC. It’s a place that symbolizes to the recovery community that recovery is a reality and gives those in recovery a place of safety and strength. Recovery coaches will be available at this location. Meetings, community events and support will always be found at CRCC, as well as collaboration with other organizations.

Bethany Johnson

Bethany Johnson is a CCAR-trained Recovery Coach, Recovery Coach Coordinator and supervisor as well as a trained SMART Recovery facilitator. She is very passionate about helping people find the resources they need on their recovery journey.

In her spare time, you can find her teaching her younger family members the importance of paying it forward by doing outreach to the unhoused encampments. She feels it’s important to teach that "no matter how little you have in life there are others that have less".

Peer Recovery Volunteers

We are pleased to train, supervise and work with a cadre of volunteers who serve as coaches, navigators and mentors to help achieve CRCC’s goals.  A Recovery Volunteer is a peer who has direct experience with alcohol or drug addiction recovery, and who completes a training on how to provide an array of services. The Peer Recovery Volunteer meets with a person to help them find community-based support and resources so that they can strengthen their recovery and improve their quality of life in many areas.

A Peer Recovery Volunteer will be dealing with people struggling with a range of addictions and situations. They may be just starting out on their recovery journey or in need of specific help to sustain their recovery efforts. The coach is a mentor, motivator and cheerleader.

These people who are the lynchpin of the Coastal Recovery Community Center will perform three important and consistent functions to serve as a focal point or axis of a Recovery Oriented System of Care:

  1. Support and guide those affected by addiction to find treatment, recovery and healing while providing on-going support, coaching and mentoring to them.

  2. Provide a system of support, coaching and navigating that will allow productive diversion and/or intervention in all phases of the criminal justice system by ensuring effective treatment thus reducing criminalization and recidivism and reducing costs.

  3. Provide support, coaching, mentoring and navigating for those re-entering the community or transitioning into the community from institutional settings (treatment, prison, jail).
